†††† The Marshland Local History Group was founded in the year 2000 for the purpose of nurturing interest in the historical aspects of the Marshland, particularly the villages of Swinefleet, Reedness, Whitgift and Ousefleet.

†††† Our aims are to research into subjects directly connected with the area and to publish the results of such research.

†††† We co-operate with local organisations and individuals to promote pride, interest and a sense of belonging to the community.

†††† The Groupís aims are to collect and publish information in order to help preserve the Marshland heritage by stimulating awareness and knowledge of this interesting and historic part of Yorkshire.

†††† We hold events and meetings which helps to draw attention to the origins, grassroots and development of the area for the interest, edification and maybe amusement of residents and visitors.

†††† Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month when we have speakers giving talks on a variety of subjects, all visitors are welcome whether or not they are members.† Each November we hold our annual Evening Supper which includes some form of entertainment.† In December we have the Groupís Christmas Lunch.
