Ousefleet is a self contained village comprising during middle of 19th century,  shopkeepers, shoe makers millers, tailors drapers, wheel wrights, joiners and farmers, public houses, chapels and as today the principle occupation is   farming.

 

Similar to the other Marshland villages it is a continuation of the ribbon development alongside the River Ouse.

The route this book takes enters the village immediately leaving Whitgift.
